here's an idea...
POTATO "BACON"
you will need:
* a few potatoes, scrubbed
* tamari, oil, salt and pepper, chili powder, mixed dried italian herbs, minced garlic, minced onion, smoked paprika and a little brown sugar or maple syrup to taste
also good: your own special barbecue sauce
Cut into thin strips or mince potatoes. Place on a greased baking sheet and use a brush to coat in oil. Sprinkle with tamari, brown sugar, black pepper, garlic, onion, chili powder, smoked paprika and herbs. Hickory salt makes a fine addition. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes, use a spatula to toss the little buggers and bake for another 20 minutes. Season again if you wish. Keep baking if they are still too soggy. When they are a bit crispy they are done, they are good even if a little burnt.
Sprinkle on anything or eat as a side dish.
This recipe really relies on your own judgment. This stuff is great and has proven quite popular on my dishes. Fantastic on pizza, green beans, salads- wherever you want to put it.
